Health of FHA’s MMI Fund Has Improved Dramatically, Driven by Rising Home Prices

The health of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) Mutual Mortgage Insurance Fund (MMI) continued to improve in 2021, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) fiscal year (FY) 2021 report to Congress. The fund’s overall capital ratio for fiscal 2021 was 8.03%, an increase of 1.93 percentage points compared with a capital ratio of 6.10% in fiscal 2020.

NAR rakes in member dues to fight DOJ

Mortgage applications for new home purchases dipped by 15.2% year-to-year in October, according to a monthly builder survey published by the Mortgage Bankers Association this week.
