I had gone over to do an inspection for him, and we got to talking about how he had had another guy come through earlier to do an appraisal of his home. To make a long story short, this man felt like the first appraisal had come in lower than it should have. Real-estate agents, homeowners, appraisers – we’re all human.

You drive for an hour for an inspection. This is an awkward situation, and one that requires some care and good judgement on the part of the appraiser, especially in today’s world. When I show up at an appraisal and mom and dad aren’t home, I turn on the sound recorder on my phone. We’ve all been there before.

Then I began to see their videos as well as videos of fellow appraisers who have posted things about this service. I am a huge fan of using technology when appraising properties. And I remember the first time I started using a digital camera instead of a 35mm camera to take pictures during my inspections. Remember them?
