Employee Engagement the GoFormz Way

Employee Engagement at GoFormz

When our Human Resources department was first formed, it was tasked with two main objectives:

  1. Take care of our people

  2. Make GoFormz the best place to work

Every decision since has been made with these two goals in mind. From company-wide events to quarterly reviews, our HR team prioritizes employee engagement year-round.

What about you? What comes to mind when you think about employee engagement at your company? Whether your engagement is off the charts (in a good way!) or needs a boost, we’re here to help. In this blog, we’ll share five ways we encourage employee engagement that can be tailored to fit any culture or budget.

What Is Employee Engagement and Why Does It Matter?

So what’s engagement all about? Making employees feel happy? Sure, it’s true happiness goes hand in hand with engagement, but they aren’t exactly the same. Think about it: even though employees are happy with their benefits and work environment, that doesn’t necessarily mean they are engaged with their job.

Creating a great workplace culture that has star employees who know how to win new customers isn’t about making employees happy or content – and organizations falter when they think it is.
— Jim Harter, “Employee Engagement vs. Employee Satisfaction and Organizational Culture”, Gallup, 2017

Employee engagement is much more. It’s the emotional commitment an employee has to their organization. Why does this matter? It’s often reflected in their work. According to Gallup, engaged employees create better business outcomes than other employees–across industries, company sizes, nationalities, in good economic times, and in bad. As a hybrid workplace, the GoFormz HR team works diligently to provide many engagement opportunities for both in-person and remote employees.

Increase Employee Engagement the GoFormz Way

1. Listen to Employees

Business team brainstorms a new idea

This is a given, but sometimes it’s put on the back burner. Effective leaders listen to what their employees have to say and act on their feedback. At GoFormz, our HR team meets with leaders and employees throughout the year. We also use secure, digital forms to conduct frequent employee surveys and evaluations. This can apply to any team! Instead of annual reviews, try quarterly or monthly. This not only helps address issues quickly, but helps your employees feel valued at any time.

2. Promote Work/Life Balance

At GoFormz, our HR team proudly offers Mental Health Fridays. On the 1st Friday of every month, employees only work half days and take the rest of the day off to rest, relax, and recharge. We also offer a Health/Wellness Reimbursement to keep our employees in tip-top shape mentally, physically, and emotionally. Other ways to promote healthy work habits can include encouraging breaks during the work day and offering flexible work schedules. Worried about tracking hours effectively? Try our digital timesheet templates to easily review and approve hours on your digital devices.

3. Get Social

A simple way to help employees care more about their workplace is to promote positive coworker relationships. As a hybrid workforce, we take advantage of any opportunity to bring people together, whether it’s in-person or virtually. This includes our Monthly Company-Wide Meetings, Quarterly New Hire Social Events, GoReadz Book Club, and much more! Bringing teams together and spurring on conversations helps create safe spaces and trust between coworkers.

4. Provide Growth Opportunities

“Career growth opportunities” is one of the main reasons people seek a new job. Creating a clear path for professional development encourages your employees to grow with your company. This can include tuition assistance programs, software certifications, leadership classes, and more. Need inspiration or insight on what opportunities your employees are seeking? Try a survey! Our HR team offers a Career Goals Worksheet where employees can define their goals, values, and more.

5. Recognize and Reward

It’s no surprise that rewards and recognition encourage engagement. Companies should broadcast their goals and values, and then recognize employees who meet those goals. At GoFormz, our HR team leads the Core Value Awards initiative. Employees nominate one another for meeting one of our three core values: Customer Centric, One Team, and Relentless Growth. The winners are then announced during our Monthly Company-Wide Meetings! We also have a Go Give Praise Slack channel to recognize the amazing day-to-day work being done across the company. Why do this? Recognizing and rewarding your employees not only motivates the individual winners but encourages engagement throughout your organization.

From surveys to signature forms, our mission is to make your life easier. Ditch the piles of paperwork and go digital with GoFormz.
