ProTip: Use Image Fields to Document Job Site Hazards

Take the hassle out of job site hazard documentation by adding an Image field to your forms

Nobody wants to think about the realities of on-site work hazards, but failure to properly document them can cause even more headaches. The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) is one of the groups responsible for ensuring proper measures are taken to reduce workplace accidents. In 2015 they even cited that employers record nearly three million serious workplace accidents and illnesses. In that same report, OSHA notes prevention and proper documentation are key to reducing that number.

GoFormz brings the streamlined technology you know and love together with workplace safety. If you’re already using GoFormz at any job site, did you know there’s an easy way to attach photos of hazards as well? All you need is a camera on the device your employees use to fill out their forms (here’s looking at you, cell phones and tablets.) With a few quick steps, you can adjust your digital forms to include optional or required images on each submission.

How Do I Set it Up?

Setting up your job site hazard form starts with configuring your Template. You can set this up like any other Template you have, and make adjustments to fit your needs and industry. You can even start by uploading a PDF or JPG of a blank inspection or hazard report form. In the editing window for your Template, locate the Image field from the available field types. Drag-and-drop the Image field onto your form, and you’re good to go. If you’d like a detailed walkthrough of this process, you can watch this video tutorial.

How Do I Add an Image?

Once you’ve created your Template, adding an image to any form is simple. While filling out your digital form, tap the image field. This will give you the opportunity to upload an image from your device or take a photo if your device has a camera. Once you’ve added your image to the form, you can even make annotations. This could be anything from circling a specific concern to writing shorthand comments.

ProTip: If you have all your team’s devices synced together on a cloud-sharing image platform, you can have any employee take photos of job site hazards, and your designated foreperson or inspector can add the image. This works great if only certain employees are tasked with completing inspections or hazard documentation.

What’s the Benefit?

Whether it’s regulatory concerns for your industry or just keeping detailed records, a photo of any job site hazard can help protect you and your employees. By streamlining this process with real-time photos of any hazards, you’ll never have to track down imagery again. Since GoFormz already keeps all your form data in one place, it will also be easy to keep track of hazard mitigation and timelines for fixes. This information can be helpful for your clients’ records and for identifying trends in your business.

What Devices Can I Use?

By using the GoFormz mobile forms app you aren’t limited to specific devices. Whether your team uses tablets or phones, Android or iOS operating systems, or even an on-site laptop, you’ll be covered. The native apps for Android and iOS also have online and offline capabilities, meaning even without an internet connection you can still keep detailed notes of job site hazards.
