RV Show, Feb. 17-20
The pandemic has prompted many people to chart their vacations in a recreational vehicle. What better way to plan for a road trip than to visit the Seattle RV Show at Lumen Field Event Center. See hundreds of new (and a few used) home vehicles, along with seminars, a children’s treasure hunt and food/drink. Thursday-Friday, 11am-8pm; Saturday, 10am-8pm; Sunday 10am-5pm

Bluegrass Festival, Feb. 24-27
Move over Winter Olympics, we have Wintergrass to enjoy! Dozens of Bluegrass acts will perform on multiple stages. Plus, check out the workshops and impromptu jams at this family friendly event in Bellevue’s Hyatt Regency. Attend live or enjoy the fun through live streaming. Daily from 4pm

Seattle Home Show, Feb. 26-Mar. 6
The real estate world perks up every year at this time for the Seattle Home & Garden Show. Learn about building, remodeling, decorating, and landscaping homes at Lumen Field Event Center. (A similar show is held in October, pandemic permitting.) Weekdays, 11am-5pm; weekends, 10am-6pm

Seattle Sounders Return, Feb. 27

Is it me or does the Major League Soccer season start earlier each year? It’s okay by me! Jordan Morris, Nicolás Lodeiro, new designated player Albert Rusnák and the Sounders return to the pitch later this month for a season-opening match with Nashville SC, which is starting its second MLS campaign. Seattle will also host first-year franchise Charlotte FC on May 29. Go Sounders!.

Golf Show, Mar. 5-6
Duffers and pros mingle at the Washington State Convention Center for two days of golf talk. It’s the Seattle Golf Show, with more than 100 exhibitors, free lessons and prize-winning fun. Saturday, 9am-6pm; Sunday, 9am-5pm

St. Patrick’s Celebrations, Mar. 13
Thousands of marchers are expected to participate in Seattle’s 50th St. Patrick’s Day Parade along 4th Avenue downtown. 1pm That will be followed by the Irish Festival in Seattle Center Armory, where music, singing, dancing and vendors will mark the Irish holiday. The blog also dove into the topic of equal and affordable housing in concert with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A side note: The words of Dr. King still resonate with me and many others all these years after his death. In his book “Strength to Love,” the civil-rights leader wrote: 

“One of the most agonizing problems within our human experience is that a few, if any, of us live to see our fondest hopes fulfilled. The hopes of our childhood and the promises of our mature years are unfinished symphonies.”

Dr. King departed this world far too soon, leaving many symphonies unfinished. It’s up to us to help continue his promises and fulfill ours as well.
