Film Festival for Adults, Jan. 28-30
Seattle’s Northwest Film Forum (1515 12th Ave.) hosts a selection of nine motion pictures that appeared at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. Grab some popcorn, a drink and enjoy! Details.

Basketball for the Whole Family, Jan. 29
There is no better entertainment for the kids and kids at heart than the Harlem Globetrotters. Watch their ball-handling wizardry in person at Climate Pledge Arena (331 1st Ave. N.) 3pm. Additional shows will take place Jan. 22 at the Kent ShoWare Center (625 W. James St.) at 3pm and on Jan. 27 at the Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett (2000 Hewitt Ave.) at 7pm.

Outdoor Show, Feb. 1-5
Come one, come all to the annual Washington Sportsman’s Show at Washington State Fair Events Center in Puyallup (110 9th Ave. SW). Attend seminars on a wide range of topics – hunting, fishing, camping – and walk the venue to see all the latest in gear. Kids will love it too! Wednesday-Friday, 12-8pm; Saturday, 10am-8pm; Sunday, 10am-4pm

Boat Show, Feb. 3-11
Thousands of watercraft will be on display and 200+ seminars are scheduled for the Seattle Boat Show. The indoor event takes place at Lumen Field Event Center (800 Occidental Ave. S.) and a free shuttle is provided for ticket holders to see boats in the water at Bell Harbor Marina (Pier 66, 2203 Alaskan Way). Free admission to kids aged 17 and younger. Various times.

Film Festival for Children, Feb. 3-12
The best in young-persons’ cinema will be on display at the Children’s Film Festival Seattle. See the best and brightest in childrens’ film from 43 countries at Northwest Film Forum (1515 12th Ave.). Suitable for kids ages 3-14. Various times.

Seattle Ballet, Golden Anniversary
Pacific Northwest Ballet is enjoying its 50th season with timeless classics – A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Snow White – and much more. Celebrate tradition, culture and dance with a night at the ballet. McCaw Hall (321 Mercer St.). Tickets.

Chinese New Year, Feb. 4
The International District comes alive with the traditional Lunar New Year Celebration – the Year of the Rabbit. Watch lion and dragon dances, martial arts demonstrations, arts & crafts and food options galore. The focus of the events will be at Hing Hay Park (423 Maynard Ave. S.) but events take place across the area. 11am-4pm. A separate event will be held on Feb. 5 at Phinney Center (6532 Phinney Ave. N.). 2-5pm

Bike Swap, Feb. 11
For all of you bike riders, this is the event of the year: the Seattle Bike Swap. Vendors sell new and used mountain, road and track bike equipment. The Cascade Bicycle Club puts on the show in Seattle Center Exhibition Hall (301 Mercer St.). Bring your riding helmet if you intend to test ride. You can even sell your bike – but at a discount. 9am-2pm (Looking to beat the crowd and find a bargain? Pay extra for an 8am entry.) Free entry for kids 15 and younger.

The Living the Dream blog enjoyed the holidays and produced only a few stories in recent weeks – but they are compelling and timely.

In addition to the overview of the 2023 Seattle/King County real estate scene (a 4000-word opus), we produced a short video summary for those short on time and seeking the highlights.
