Merry Christmas from our family to yours! As a gift we are sharing this family recipe from Shannon’s great grandmother was born in 1890 and she was a true pioneer. When visiting her, it was like going back in time. She loved to bake and although a thin woman, she had a “sweet tooth” and always had sweet treats to share. Here is her old past down recipe for Gingerbread.

  • 2 Cups flour
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Cup Wesson oil
  • 1 cup Ribbon Cane Syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp all spice
  • 1tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ginger

Mix all, add 1 cup boiling water. Mix. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
