Title insurance provider First American Financial Corporation announced the acquisition of Texas-based Georgetown Title , a company with roots planted in the Lone Star State over 125 years ago. Georgetown Title will become part of the direct operations of First American’s largest subsidiary, First American Title Insurance Company, the company said in a press statement.

In June, total payroll employment rose by 850,000 and the unemployment rate was little changed at 5.9%. The June employment data shows strong growth momentum as more than 154 million people are fully vaccinated and COVID-19 restrictions on business are lifted. Residential construction employment increased by 15,200 in June, while nonresidential construction lost 22,600 jobs, following a decrease of 21,700.

Goldman Sachs has successfully completed its $1.8 billion consumer-relief obligation under the 2016 settlement agreements with the U.S. Department of Justice and three states, according to the independent monitor of the settlements , Professor Eric D. Green. In his sixteenth and final report, Green said Goldman Sachs earned over $1.8 billion in credit after providing more than $1.52 billion of credited consumer relief under the settlement agreement with the U.S.

According to data from the latest Radian Home Price Index (HPI), U.S. home prices increased at an annualized rate of 11.5 percent in May 2021 from April 2021 and 9.9 percent year over year. The Radian HPI also rose 9.9 percent year-over-year (May 2020 to May 2021), which was slightly higher than the year-over-year increase of 9.3 percent recorded last month.

CFBank, the wholly owned banking subsidiary of CF Bankshares Inc., is ceasing its direct-to-consumer (DTC) mortgage lending activities and instead focusing on retail loan originations. The company says it has suspended the origination of new rate-lock commitments through its DTC mortgage lending business effective as of June 30 and will work toward closing out its existing loan pipeline and commitments in the next few months.
