Native Craft Fair, Dec. 17-18
Looking for that special holiday gift? Native American artists showcase their works – clothing, jewelry, drums, art prints and more – at the United Indians Native Art Market. It takes place at the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center in Discovery Park, 5011 Bernie Whitebear Way, Magnolia/Seattle. Free to attend. 10am-4pm

Winter Solstice Celebrations
Our shortest and darkest days of the year are fast approaching. Mark the moment! Check out the Solstice Night Market at Magnuson Park’s Hangar 30 (21+ only) on Dec. 16-17, 5-10pm. Or enjoy the crisp winter air with a walk along the Snohomish River Centennial Trial, which will include luminaries on River Front Trail – a sight to behold. Details. Dec. 21, 4-7pm.

Opportunities for Involvement
Tis the season to give a helping hand in the form of clothing, gift cards and cash donations. Donate hats, socks, thermal tops and bottoms, scarves, gloves, blankets and unused coats. New Year’s Eve Celebrations, Dec. 31
If you’re looking to ring in 2023 from a unique venue, how about high above? Seattle’s tallest building will mark the special night with a New Year’s Eve Hollywood Party from the 73rd floor of the Columbia Center’s Sky View Observatory (21+ only). This event always sells out, so get your tickets today. 9pm-1am. Or try the Smith Tower 1920s-themed event on the 35th floor, featuring feather girls, palm readings, hor d’ouvres and more. Looking for something closer to the ground? Wear your layers and head to Seattle Center for the New Year’s Eve fireworks and lights show. Join the thousands of others with a boisterous, cheerful celebration of another year. Or stay warm at the Seattle Armory for a special night of music and dance. 8pm-midnight

Looking for something truly special? Board “The Spirit of 76” for the New Year’s Eve Boat Party. View the Space Needle fireworks from Lake Union and enjoy music and drink. Departs from Lake Union Charters, 1611 Fairview Ave. E. 9pm-1am

We can always benefit from tips and tricks for our homes. Attend the annual Puyallup Home & Garden Show at the Washington State Fair Events Center, 110 9th Ave. SW, Puyallup. 10am-6pm

MLK Celebrations
America marks the birth on Jan. 15, 1929, of civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Locally, a speaker series and breakfast will take place at the Jerry M. Brockey Center, South Seattle College, on Jan. 13, 9:30am-2pm. Other events to mark MLK Jr. Day (officially Jan. 16) are still taking shape as of this writing.
