What else is happening in and around your Seattle?

Eiffel Tower, anytime
Before we check out happenings between Pike and Pine or from Northgate to Westlake, why not take a tour of an international destination from the comfort of your favorite chair? Let’s get high … from atop the Eiffel Tower and look out – far out – towards the horizon on a cloudy day in Paris.

Museum of Flight, Thursday-Sunday
Come one, come all to, in my opinion, our area’s best historical hub – the Museum of Flight near Boeing Field. The museum, reopened for about six weeks now, offers an acclaimed collection of aircraft in every vintage, shape and size. My favorite is walking through one of the first presidential planes, Air Force One. There are limited tickets and social distancing still applies. 10am-5pm

Flight, April 23-25

The Seattle Opera is putting on a comic performance, Flight, filmed at the Museum of Flight and streamed to audiences in April. The story is inspired by the incredible 18-year forced residency at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris of Mehran Karimi Nasseri. Tickets: $35

Farmers’ Markets
Did you know there are about three dozen farmers’ markets in King County? Neither did I! It has been a challenging past several months for farmers. Selling in a public market amid a pandemic – they are deemed an “essential service” by the governor’s office – farmers used a lot of creativity and patience to deliver fresh produce, dairy, meat, poultry and more to thousands of consumers. As the state slowly reopens, please pay a visit to one of the markets (my favorite is held Sundays in Ballard and is receiving national attention) and help out a few farmers as they struggle through a difficult time. They need us more than ever.

Seattle Sounders, April 16
Sounders FC kick off their 2021 campaign at Lumen Field against Minnesota United. They hope to avenge a bitter MLS Cup defeat in December to the Crew when Seattle travels to champion Columbus on Aug. 21. Up to 7,000 fans will be permitted to attend home matches. Go Sounders! 6:30pm

Walk in the Park
We are in the heart of cherry blossom season and tulip season … and so much more. Welcome to spring and all its glory! Enjoy the warmer temperatures and longer days with a walk in one of the many local parks. There are so many to choose from – Seward Park on Lake Washington, Bellevue’s Botanical Gardens, Washington Park Arboretum and Carl S. English Jr. Botanical Garden right next to the Ballard Locks are some of my favorites. How about you? Where are you headed first?

Buddy Guy, April 22
Legendary blues artist Buddy Guy, considered one of the all-time great guitarists, brings his soulful and dynamic sounds to The Moore – after two postponements due to the pandemic. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Grammy winner, the 83-year-old Guy will unleash his Chicago blues style and tracks from 18 solo albums to a music-loving (and live-performance-loving) audience. 8pm

High-tech Theater
If you, like many, have scrolled to the end of Netflix and are seeking something new, why not catch a movie in a theater? Not just any theater. Cinemark has just opened its newest cinema in Totem Lake/Kirkland and it’s touted to have some of the best high-tech experiences available – 4K digital projection with RealD 3D capability on wall-to-wall screens and heightened sound systems – as well as oversized electric-powered recliner chairs. Safety protocols are in place, including disinfecting auditoriums after each showing, seat buffering technology that blocks adjacent seats to a party, and face masks for all people (employees and guests).
