Seattle Opera, Diamond Anniversary
Seattle Opera has been at the forefront of noteworthy productions from almost its start with the 1970 world premiere of Of Mice and Men followed a year later by the first fully staged show of the rock opera Tommy. Now marking 60 years, the company offers the world premiere of A Thousand Splendid Suns, based on a novel about two Afghan women and the difficult sacrifices made living under Taliban rule. Home & Garden Show, Feb. 25-Mar. 5
Hundreds of exhibits, including a showcase of tiny homes, plus dozens of informative seminars will be featured at the Seattle Home & Garden Show at the Lumen Field Event Center (800 Occidental Ave. S.). Builders and remodelers will be joined by exhibitors of the latest appliances and fixtures, along with specialists in decorating and landscaping. There will be so much to see and do! Tickets. Seattle Sounders season opener, Feb. 26
Coming off an early year tournament in Europe, the Seattle Sounders are about to embark on their 14th Major League Soccer campaign with a season opener against the Colorado Rapids on Feb. 26 followed by a second match at Lumen Field against Real Salt Lake on Mar. 4. Tickets.

Comicon, Mar. 2-5
The massive comic book, game and pop-culture event of the year in the PNW hits the new Summit Building (900 Pine St.) within the Seattle Convention Center. Emerald City Comic Con will have photo ops, artist alley, talks and screenings. Ashley Eckstein, David Tennant and Stephen Amell are among the many featured appearances. Tickets.

Rockin’ Weekend, Mar. 4-5
The Crocodile (2505 1st Ave., Seattle) and adjoining Madame Lou’s will host a wild weekend of rock. Some 20 bands will riff, lick and shred their Frankenstein for adoring fans. Viagra Boys, Fidlar and White Denim are the headliners. Must be at least 21. Tickets.

St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, Mar. 10-12
Get ready for parades, dancing and celebrations. St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, is just around the corner and Seattle will get a head start. On March 10, watch the Landing of St. Patrick by boat at South Lake Union at 5pm. An hour later, St. Patrick will appear for the Green Stripe Laying when the route for the March 12 parade is marked on 4th Ave. near Jefferson St. In addition to the downtown parade starting at 1pm, Seattle Center will host a weekend St. Patrick’s Festival and the St. Patrick’s Dash will cap the busy time with a colorful 5K run. Seattle Center Culture, year round
Festál 2023 is a series of family friendly cultural festivals that showcase our community’s diversity. Two dozen events are presented through the year at Seattle Center. They feature food, music, dance, visual arts, guest lecturers and more. Check the calendar for an event that captures your heart and enjoy. Free.
