What is RemoteVal?

RemoteVal™ is the industry’s first appraiser-driven remote inspection tool. It is designed to keep appraisers in control of a virtual property inspection through advanced remote video technology. It enables you to visually observe, remotely photograph, and remotely scan a property to generate a floor plan. As a turnkey web-based software for appraisers, you utilize the tool on a pay-per-use basis, setting your own fees and controlling the inspection without the need to rely on third-party data.

What types of assignments can it be used for?

A virtual property inspection is a potential option for a Hybrid appraisal inspection, as well as a Fannie Mae 1004D final inspection. For cases in which Hybrid appraisals are allowed, appraisers can complete virtual property inspections for the 1004 Hybrid/70H by using the RemoteVal tool. And with Fannie Mae’s leadership in allowing virtual inspections for 1004D Completion/Repair inspections, appraisers can utilize RemoteVal to save the windshield time and deliver timely reports for lenders on appropriate Fannie Mae assignments.

Please note: Freddie Mac has not released any flexibility in allowing a virtual inspection for the 1004D/442 Completion/Repair inspection. The information above references Fannie Mae’s appraisal requirements and may not be applicable to Freddie Mac’s appraisal assignments.

Who developed this technology?

Mark Walser, President of Incenter Appraisal Management, is responsible for the development of RemoteVal, a patented technology that allows appraisers to virtually appraise properties using virtual inspections and is a HousingWire 2021 Tech Trendsetter award winner. A 12-year industry veteran, Walser has deep expertise across all areas of appraisal management, including technology and operations, appraiser network development, marketing and branding, client service, and business development. His passion for technology always has been about putting appraisers first and arming them with the tools they need to stay in control of inspections and appraisals.
