At Chicagoland Appraisals, we understand that your furry friends are an important part of your family. We love dogs and appreciate the joy they bring to our lives. When our home appraiser visits your property, we want to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for everyone involved, including your beloved pets. As a proud dog owner, taking a few extra steps to prepare your home and your four-legged friend can make a big difference.

Clean Up the Yard

Before the appraiser arrives, take a walk around your yard to ensure it’s clean and free of any dog waste. While it may not be the most glamorous task, cleaning up dog feces is important to prevent any accidental mishaps during the appraisal. Nobody wants the home appraiser stepping on something unpleasant and unwittingly track it through your home. So, grab that pooper scooper, disposable bag, and give your yard a quick clean-up. It’ll make everyone’s experience much more pleasant.

Doggy Etiquette

As much as we adore our four-legged friends, it’s essential to establish some ground rules during the appraisal visit even for friendly and well-behaved dogs.

We completely understand that your dog might be excited to meet new people and we’re more than happy to give your dog a few minutes of attention and affection during the visit; however, biting and jumping on the appraiser is a big no-no. Provide clear instructions to your furry friend or keep them on a leash if you think it’s appropriate.

After the Appraiser Leaves

Our furry friends can be quite curious and sneaky, and we want to ensure they don’t get any adventurous ideas after we leave. Once the appraisal is complete, it’s time to ensure your dog’s safety as the appraiser departs. Although our appraisers do their best to close doors, gates, etc., it’s always a good idea to double-check for yourself. Here’s what you can do:

– Walk through your home and check that all doors leading to the outside are securely closed.
– Inspect any gates or fences in your yard, ensuring they are properly closed and latched.
– Take a moment to locate your dog and ensure they are safely inside the house or in a secure area before
allowing them access to the yard again.

At Chicagoland Appraisals, we genuinely appreciate the companionship and happiness that dogs bring into our lives. When our home appraiser visits your property, we strive to create a comfortable environment for everyone, including your furry family members. By following these simple steps such as cleaning up the yard, practicing doggy etiquette, and securing your dog’s safety we can ensure a smooth and woof-tastic appraisal process.
