Appealing Property Taxes with a Real Estate Appraisals

Sometimes your home is assessed at more than it is actually worth on the current market which could result in you paying higher property taxes than you should. Getting a real estate appraisal can help you appeal your current property taxes. If you think there is a possibility that your home is valued at more than it should be, then it is worth getting an appraisal on your home to see what your options are. For property management, you can see more on professional sites.

Each county has a slightly different process for property tax appeals, but it typically includes filling out several forms and finding homes that are comparable to your home at the time of assessment. If you appeal your taxes to the county but are unhappy with their decision, you usually have a second chance to appeal to the state. The state’s process is slightly different than the county’s process, but you should be able to use most of the same information that you compiled for the county appeal.

Because this can be a confusing and complicated process, consulting with an expert is strongly advised. Real estate appraisal companies are home valuation experts and can help you ensure that your appeal is accurate. At Appraisal Precision, we frequently offer tax appeal packages at a discounted rate that are tailored to your county’s needs. 1. My company gets asked often to do appraisals for tax appeal. Often, an appraisal isn’t needed. For example, if the county has the square footage wrong, then it might only take having a credible measurement.
